Some Christians do not understand what it means to get intimate with Jesus. They treat Christianity like it is a fad, something to do. Everybody doing the shuffle, come on! Everybody getting saved, get in line! It’s horrible to think about what they are really missing out on. Now I don’t pretend to know everything about a Christ-filled life because I’m still learning and growing everyday. There are habits that keep me from the full-blown intimacy with Christ. But I as I grow in this walk and as my love grows for Jesus I’m realizing everyday what I was missing out on in the beginning. Jesus died for me and when you think about it that is the greatest act of love there ever was. There are plenty of things we die for everyday that don’t mean a thing – every time you light a cigarette, have unprotected sex outside of the sanctity of marriage, have a drink, and many of the other bad habits we form in life – we choose death. We do not consider the reasons for this choice because we know that all our reasoning is justification. We smoke because it relieves stress, we have sex because it’s a part of life, we drink to unwind. Jesus died so that we could be saved, he chose death for us. When we lack a true intimacy with him then we are missing out on the love and the blessing he has in store for us.
Life is bad enough with adding on the many bad habits and choices that we make everyday. Pray to the Father to forgive you, leave behind sin. There is so much more out there for you. Talk to him daily, read his words and in troubled times hang on to him like the living water that he is. I struggle with my sins everyday but as I grow a part of me knows that through Him I will be delivered. That each day I choose to leave sin behind is one more day I have with him. Better is one day in his house then 10,000 elsewhere. Get Intimate with Jesus.
